Published by Dean Close Preparatory School on Thursday 17th of August 2023

On A Level Results day, we celebrate the achievements of the class of 2023, celebrating their accomplishments, diverse paths, and unwavering commitment. Amidst challenges, their resilience shines through, showcasing their readiness to embrace the future with confidence and determination...

Dean Close School is delighted to share our A Level results of the class of 2023, showcasing individual accomplishments, diverse trajectories, and the school's commitment to fostering well-rounded individuals.

Mr Bradley Salisbury, Head of Dean Close School, shares, "Today, we celebrate the accomplishments of our students, their growth, and their incredible journey through challenges and successes."

In the pursuit of success, the determination of each student shines brightly. Mr Salisbury highlights, "Amidst fine margins, 21 out of 89 students secured a remarkable three A grades or more, providing access to almost any university course in the UK."

Dean Close School takes pride in the diverse pathways chosen by the class of 2023, with students securing positions across the globe. Mr Salisbury observed, "Alongside the traditional applications through UCAS, it has been great to see students taking up places in the US, Hong Kong, on aircraft pilot courses, contracts in professional sport and degree apprenticeships."

Reflecting on the overall performance, Bradley Salisbury shared, "By 8am this morning, over 90% of applicants had received or accepted firm offers from universities, standing as a testament to their meticulous planning and unwavering commitment. The remarkable leadership demonstrated by the UCAS and Futures team over the last 18 months has been truly exceptional, with commendable efforts from students, parents, and tutors alike."

He continued with optimism, "As a school that values every individual's journey, our results may vary slightly from year to year due to the unique composition of each cohort. While acknowledging the challenges faced by this year's group—a cohort that did not sit GCSE exams in 2021 and thus missed out on that vital exam experience—we also recognise their determination and resilience in overcoming these hurdles. We had been told to expect a 20% swing back from the COVID years which saw us with around 80% of grades from A* to B. This year’s cohort are currently sitting with 63 % of this year’s grades from A* to B, before any adjustments."
