Lower Sixth Form pupils took part in a training expedition, showing true resilience and grit...

In a challenging and rewarding weekend, our Lower Sixth Form pupils took part in a DofE Gold training expedition, showcasing their grit, determination, and teamwork as they embarked on a journey that tested their physical and mental mettle. The expedition encompassed a little under 25 kilometers of arduous terrain on Saturday, including a triumphant summit of Pen y Fan.

The pupils were met with adverse weather conditions, with a very windy night spent in tents followed by a damp breakfast. However, the inclement weather did little to deter their spirits. Undeterred, they ventured once more into the cloud-covered heights and trekked about 15 kilometers, concluding their journey at the historic Llanthony Priory. By this time, the skies had cleared, allowing them to revel in the beautiful surroundings

All participants demonstrated exemplary resilience and teamwork. As they traversed the challenging landscapes, students developed valuable skills, and their cooperation reached new heights. The experience was not without its physical toll, with many students acquiring blisters along the way. However, it was a valuable learning opportunity, equipping them with the knowledge and experience needed for their assessed expedition scheduled for May.
