> FACT 1:  Chelmsford was the location of Britain's first ever public audio broadcast! The sound of Dame Nellie Melba, an australian opera singer was broadcasted from Chelmsford on the 15th of June 1920. 

> FACT 2:  Chelmsford briefly featured as the capital of England in 1381. This was because the seat of Government was temporarily moved down to the town during the peasants' revolt of 1381.
