> FACT 1:  Aylesbury is recognised as the birthplace of the Paralympic movement. Dr Ludwig Guttmann organised the first competition for those in wheelchairs after World War II at the Stoke Mandeville hospital. The games took off and in 1960 the International Stoke Mandeville Games became the official paralympic games. It even hosts the flame lighting ceremony each year.
