Young Geographer Competition Success at Northwood College

Congratulations go to Jenny Spencer, from Northwood College, who was shortlisted and awarded Highly Commended in the 14-16 age category of the 'Young Geographer' competition run by the Royal Geographical Society.

Each year the Northwood College Geography department enters the competition, which this year drew its inspiration from the Society's 'Walk the World' project, part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Students were asked to explain the connections between their own local area and the 206 Olympic and Paralympic participating nations, and to show how they influence upon its geography.

Jenny's work was highly imaginative and purposeful in sticking to the brief. She attended a presentation award ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society on 23 November 2012.
