CCF Inspection Day Champions Leadership and Achievement

Published by Culford School on Thursday 27th of March 2025

Last week, the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) held its annual inspection day, warmly welcoming officer Colonel Gareth Boyd, who currently leads the British Army’s Training and Response Unit at Bassingbourn.

Throughout the day, cadets took part in leadership exercises, first aid training and fieldcraft activities, observed by both the inspecting officer and proud parents. A formal parade was held, during which Colonel Boyd presented the contingent’s new Tactical Recognition Flash to every cadet, along with badges recognising their progress through the training syllabus. The sections then competed in a spirited tug-of-war, determining the winners of the inter-section competition.

The event concluded with the traditional contingent mess dinner, offering an opportunity to reflect on the year’s achievements and look ahead to future developments. Colonel Boyd delivered an inspiring address, sharing stories from his distinguished military career to motivate the next generation of cadet leaders.

A huge well done to all cadets and staff involved in making the day a resounding success!
