We are extremely proud that St Mary's Calne has, once again, ranked in the top 10 independent schools in the South West for academic performance in The Sunday Times Schools’ Guide, Parent Power.
Parent Power 2025, the 31st edition of the schools’ guide, identifies the highest-achieving schools in the UK, ranked by their 2024 A Level and GCSE examination results. It is widely acknowledged as the most authoritative survey of the country’s top schools. In 2024, 83% of GCSE grades were 9-7 and at A level, 88% were A* to B, with more than 23% of grades at A*.
Mrs Anne Wakefield, St Mary’s Head, said of the achievement, ‘St Mary’s is an exceptional boarding and day school for girls that is consistently named in the top schools in the UK. This recognition from the Sunday Times Schools’ Guide is a testament to the hard work, resilience and determination of our students, who impress me every day at school and our inspirational staff team who go the extra mile to create our wonderfully supportive and inspiring school community.’
Editor of Parent Power, Helen Davies, said, ‘The educational landscape is challenging but there is also so much to celebrate from the hard work of passionate and committed teachers who are finding ever more innovative and impactful ways to boost their students and give them the very best start in life. As well as celebrating the academic excellence of the top schools it is fantastic to see how they are shaping their students to be ready for the 21st century.’
