Paving the Way for Women this International Women’s Day

Published by Edgbaston High School for Girls on Friday 7th of March 2025

International Women’s Day is a special occasion at Edgbaston High School, a time to reflect on the importance of girls’ education and celebrate the strong community that makes our school so special.

As a school dedicated to inspiring and empowering young women, we are proud to be led by female role models, including our Headmistress, Mrs C Macro, and our Head of Prep, Mrs N Hobson. Their leadership, alongside our dedicated staff, ensures that every pupil is encouraged to be ambitious, resilient, and confident in her abilities.

But championing girls’ education isn’t just the work of women. We are lucky to have the support of male colleagues and governors who share our belief in the value of a girls-only education. Their encouragement and commitment help create an environment where pupils feel empowered to achieve their best.

This year’s theme, Accelerate Action, encourages us to push for progress in gender equality and create real, lasting change. At EHS, this means continuing to equip our pupils with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to make an impact—whether in the classroom, in their future careers, or in their wider communities. We want every girl to know that she has a voice and the power to shape the world around her.

International Women’s Day is a chance to celebrate the achievements of women everywhere, including the generations of EHS alumnae who have gone on to make their mark in all walks of life. Today, we celebrate their success, the opportunities ahead for our current pupils, and the strength of our school community in helping them reach their goals.

Happy International Women’s Day!
