Our corporate supporters CarneySweeney put their best foot forward in walking an incredible 2,928 miles between them in a month-long challenge throughout September to support autistic young people with complex needs.CarneySweeney is supporting Prior's Court as its Charity of the Year and in September, each of the company's four offices' staffing teams was tasked with getting out and walking 550 miles collectively - so that's 2,200 miles altogether - and getting sponsorship along the way.
The 550-mile figure was chosen as it is the distance from Prior's Court to CarneySweeney's London, Birmingham, Cardiff and Exeter offices and then back to Prior's Court again.
Come the end of the month, the CarneySweeney teams certainly walked the walk, clocking up a mammoth 2,928 miles - 728 miles more than their collective target - and raising £220 along the way.
CarneySweeney is raising money for our Fun and Recreation Appeal which brings special events like a music festival, Christmas Carol Concerts and more to the young people at Prior’s Court and provide them, and their families, the special moments which can often feel impossible.
Aimée Hoyle, our Corporate and Community Fundraising Lead, said: "This was a truly awesome fundraising effort by everyone at CarneySweeney - we're in awe of their commitment, and how many pairs of shoes they must have collectively worn through!
"It was great to hear from the teams about how they felt getting out and walking helped their physical and mental health, as well as the benefits of spending more time together as a team outside of the office environment.
"And a huge shout-out to further individual walkers in the challenge from each office - Ollie Thorngood (Exeter - 113.7 miles in September), Linda Adams (Birmingham, 117 miles), Max Lewis (Cardiff, 146.8 miles), and Rebecca Hall (London, 169.1 miles).
"Thank you so much to everyone at CarneySweeney for their efforts in supporting the autistic young people with complex needs at Prior's Court to be able to access amazing experiences through holding events on-site with our Fun and Recreation appeal."
