The Oratory Prep School in Goring Heath is proud to announce that six of its pupils have been selected to represent the Prep School Lions Football Squads at Under 11 level, more than any other school at this age. This is a fantastic achievement showcasing the school's sporting talent and its successful mixed football programme.
The prestigious Prep School Lions Football programme brings together the most talented independent school footballers across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, and Surrey, offering young athletes the opportunity to develop their skills and compete at the highest levels, including representing England at the Gothia World Youth Cup in Sweden.
Sport is one of the cornerstones of the curriculum at The Oratory Prep School but what makes its pupils stand out is the dedication they show in supplementing their school training with local club football. Following trials held on 6th October, Jasper Sallis, who plays for Pangbourne Youth FC, was selected for the elite Prep Schools' Lions A Squad. Out of over 300 boys who attended, Jasper secured his place among the top 18 players in the U11 age bracket.
In addition Ida Tomlinson and Lily Jones, who both play for Goring Robins FC, Bridget Moorcroft and Iker Poyo Cuartero, who represent AFC Caversham, and Alexander Rolfe, who plays for Henley AFC, have earned spots in the development squads. These pupils will also attend the Gothia World Youth Cup which will be held in July 2025.
The Gothia World Youth Cup is one of the most prestigious youth football tournaments in the world, featuring over 80 nations and bringing together some of the best young footballers globally. The event's grand opening ceremony will take place in the world-famous Ullevi stadium, attended by over 52,000 people. We look forward to following their journey and celebrating their achievements at the Gothia World Youth Cup!
