Published by Bancroft's School on Thursday 15th of August 2024

Bancroft’s students have once again demonstrated exceptional academic achievements, with an impressive 74% of A Levels being graded A*–A this year.

This impressive success is a clear indication of the commitment, perseverance and hard work displayed by this year’s cohort, who have embraced all that Bancroft’s has to offer.

Key Highlights:

• 91% of results were graded A*-B

• 74% of results were graded A*-A

• 32% of results were graded A*

• Two students were top performers in OCR’s A Level Art and Design

• 15 students achieved 3 or more A* grades

This year’s leavers are pursuing a wide range of paths, with many securing places at prestigious universities, including the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Imperial College London, and the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE).

Over 70% of our leavers will be going on to study at Russell Group universities, and 17 students will be studying medicine.

Notably, one student has earned a full bursary to study voice at the prestigious Royal College of Music, while another has secured a highly sought-after degree apprenticeship with Kier Group.

Mr. Phil Harrison, Head of Sixth Form, expressed the collective pride of the school, stating, “I know that the young adults who leave us today will go on to make a hugely positive impact on the world, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.”

Echoing these sentiments, Deputy Head Academic, Dr. Matthew Lim, remarked on the students’ achievements, saying, “I am so proud of our students and staff, whose dedication, sacrifice, and perseverance have made this possible. Beyond their results, the values embodied by our students will open doors and opportunities for them to pursue their dreams and realise their potential.”

Mr. Harrison also emphasises the broader significance of these results, noting, “They do not capture the spirit of a group or individual; the loyalty, empathy, camaraderie, creativity, and so much more that makes our community so special.”

As the Sixth Form Common Room refurbishment nears completion and Psychology is introduced to the A Level curriculum, Bancroft’s remains committed to enhancing its offerings and providing an exceptional Sixth Form experience.
