Dauntsey’s appoints Huw Thomas as new Deputy Head (Pastoral)

Dauntsey’s is delighted to announce that Huw Thomas will be joining the school in September 2024 to take up the role of Deputy Head (Pastoral). Huw joins Dauntsey’s from St Edward’s, Oxford, where he is currently Housemaster of Apsley House.


Huw joined St Edward’s in 2015 to take up his first teaching post after completing his PGCE and Master’s in Education at Wolfson College, Cambridge. During his time at St Edward’s he has held the positions of Resident Tutor, Assistant Housemaster, Head of Higher Education and Head of History. In the co-curriculum, he has coached the 1st XV and the 1st VII in Rugby, as well as Netball, junior Rugby and Hockey. Huw became Housemaster of Apsley House in September 2022.


Commenting on his appointment, Huw said, “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Dauntsey's as Deputy Head (Pastoral) from September 2024. Dauntsey's holds a superb reputation and I feel privileged to be joining the community. The school is renowned for its family ethos and I have been struck by the care, warmth and kindness that the pupils and staff have all shown towards me so far. Over the coming months I am very much looking forward to getting to know all the Dauntsey’s pupils and their families, and to building strong relationships and working closely with all the staff.”
