Upper Second Artists Produce Impressive Mannequins

Published by Culford School on Friday 16th of February 2024

Following in the footsteps of contemporary and couture fashion designers, our Upper Second artists have created their own stencilled patterned papers and mannequin throughout this half term. They have developed their stencils that were inspired by drawings of an honesty plant, and expanded this concept all the way to creating mannequin models wearing the fashion designs they had drawn.

To further develop their studies on fashion and pattern, pupils spent a morning at Gainsborough House in Sudbury, where they saw the inspirational exhibition by artist Rebecca Salter. Throughout their visit, they spent time in the Silk Room, where they saw the designs of stunning woven silks, learnt about the silk industry in Sudbury and enjoyed workshops in repeat pattern and mark making.

Culford's art department strives to develop the skills of our young artists both in and out of the classroom, and it has been a pleasure seeing the Upper Second pupils present their beautiful catwalk of creativity.
