U11 Hockey V Arnold House

Published by St Paul's Cathedral School on Monday 5th of February 2024

Two year 6 hockey teams travelled to Canon’s Park on Monday to play against Arnold House School.

The A team faced an experienced side who dominated from the first play of the match. We had some excellent saves in goal, and some strong individual defensive tackles, but Arnold House proved too strong in the end and finished with a comfortable win.

The B team fought hard against a strong U10 A team side, and there were some very strong defensive performances. In attack, we came close to an excellent goal, however it was not to be as an Arnold House defender pulled off an astonishing goal line clearance.

Despite the respectable effort put in from SPCS, it was indeed a comfortable win in the end for Arnold House, but as with the A's, it was noted by the referee following the final whistle that she had never come across a more enjoyable school in a match this year.

Both Arnold House members of staff commented on how impressed they were with St Paul’s determination to keep trying to the very end, and the good nature with which we played the matches. All SPCS players can be proud with the way that they represented the school in terms of their behaviour and effort in the fixture.
