World Book Day is celebrated annually on the first Thursday of March. A global event, it aims to promote the joy of reading and celebrate the power of books. This year on World Book Day, St Edmund’s will pay homage to Roald Dahl’s beloved classic ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by transforming parts of the Prep School into a magical chocolate factory. Classrooms, corridors and even the playground will be adorned with whimsical decorations, bringing the pages of the book to life for students to enjoy.
The celebrations will include making sweet treats, a special orienteering hunt to find the golden goose egg, a chocolate factory escape room activity, and even some Oompa Loompa dancing. In addition, students across the school will dress up as their favourite book characters or authors to celebrate the day.
