Malaysia Report By Evie Year 12

I have been thinking of ways to describe my trip to Malaysia and to put it quite simply, it was inspiring. we faced individual hurdles as well as group challenges but we never failed to encourage each other and work as a team. The best example of this was when we built an enclosure that contributed to the turtle conservation. throughout this time, we pieced together a little garden so that when the turtles are released into the sea, they are faced with a barrier to stop them wandering back inland. This issue has been brought to the attention of many animal welfare communities and as a team, we did something to help. This activity taught us to utilise each other’s strengths and allowed us the opportunity to positively impact the turtle habitat.

Similarly, during our trek in Bukit we improved our resilience and tested our determination, this was an extremely challenging part of our trip, both mentally and physically. We gained strength through perseverance and encouragement of each other. Once we completed the trek, we reaped the rewards by jumping into a lake with a picturesque rainforest surrounding us. This was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon as we took some time out to relax and got to know each other.

In contrast, we spent time exploring the city of Kuala Lumpur where we visited the extraordinary Batu Caves and the Petronas Towers. this was an eye-opening experience as we were further educated on an alternative culture. Moreover, we were granted with the amazing opportunity of giving water to the wild monkeys however, we encountered some extremely cheeky characters.

Finally, I loved being able to help the animals because it has always been something that I have been passionate about. This trip has been life changing, it has opened my eyes to a new community and taught me countless life lessons. I now have the desire to continue my journey creating more memories like these.

Thank you to everyone who has made this trip possible and for inspiring me to pursue future travels.
