Mayfield’s Equestrian Team Impress At Felbridge

Published on isbi School News dated Saturday 30th of September 2023

Mayfield’s Show Jumping Team celebrated a hugely successful competition at Felbridge last Saturday, winning both the novice and mini classes and placing second in the intermediate and open team classes. All four teams qualified for the National Schools Championships at Addington in October half-term.

Director of Riding Jill Barker said: “I’m delighted for the girls, who can now look forward to competing in the National Championships in a few weeks. I’d also like to thank coaches Laura Powell and Emily Baldwin, who have been training these riders since the start of term. They were extremely happy with the performances. What was noticeable was how well the team has gelled in a short space of time. The girls are very supportive of each other and that's crucial to the teams’ success. We're really looking forward to the National Championships over half-term - we're taking 15 riders and their parents and their horses up to a four day competition, where I’m sure they will do us proud.”

Congratulations also go to Polina, who on Sunday came second in the Novice dressage class with her horse Sharpie, securing her place at the Nationals.
