Senior Prep enjoyed a thrilling three night residential at OA surf club, Bude - and have written us a riveting report on their action-packed adventure.
At the end of June, our years 7 and 8 enjoyed a three night residential at OA surf club, Bude - we asked the children for a report, and are very envious of what sounds like the perfect end to a fun-packed year.
Our residential trip to Bude
On our first day we went for our first surf lesson at Widemouth Bay. We were taught how to catch a wave and how to stand up in stages. We really enjoyed it and some of us managed to stand up! That night we had a barbecue and went rock pooling for crabs and starfish.
The next day we went canoeing in the Bude canal; we did lots of fun challenges and races to keep us occupied for the 3 mile canoe. We then headed back to the beach for our second surf lesson, in which nearly all of us managed to stand up and catch a wave. We ended the day with a five aside football game and some group activities. On the third day we started with one of our favourite activities from the trip; coasteering in Bossiney Cove. We all loved jumping off the cliffs and encouraging each other to jump off the top tier. We even went swimming in an amazing cave. We then went shopping and for lunch in Boscastle before heading to our final surf lesson. We learnt new skills and how to change direction on the board.
Our final morning meant packing up and heading to the beach to have some fun with our bodyboards, catching some really big waves. It was, overall, a really fun experience and we’re all really thankful for the opportunity to go on this trip.
