A talented St Edmund’s College & Prep School pupil recently showcased her exceptional dancing and acrobatic abilities at the prestigious ‘Gymnastique Magique’ competition, which is held annually at Disneyland Paris as part of its Performing Arts OnStage programme. Year 10 student, Theodora D., entered four categories in the premier festival gymnastics competition, ultimately taking home three well-earned medals for her efforts.

The Disney Performing Arts OnStage programme provides amateur dance groups with a unique once in a lifetime opportunity to become a ‘Disney performer’ for the day, allowing them a glimpse into Disney's world of entertainment.

Now in its 10th year, Gymnastique Magique is a three-day event where talented gymnasts of all ages compete in a range of categories, performing group, duo, and solo routines. The challenging 12-hour competition is renowned for its high standards and fierce competition, as well as its amazing atmosphere in the heart of Disneyland Paris.

Theodora, who is a member of Hertford Gymnastics Academy, delivered an outstanding solo performance that earned her a well-deserved silver place, and highlighted her individual prowess and dedication to her craft. Alongside her regular dance partner, Theodora was rewarded with a bronze medal for a perfectly timed duet. She also gained a very respectable silver medal in the whole group dance, performing a captivating routine with fellow members of the Hertford Gymnastics Academy Display Squad. In total, the Hertford Gymnastics Academy was awarded 11 medals at the competition.

Matthew Mostyn, Headmaster at St Edmund’s College, said: “Our congratulations go to Theodora on such an amazing result in this tough competition. She has displayed such dedication and commitment to her craft and this has truly paid off. Even before the event itself she was helping to choreograph routines for the younger members of her team, sharing her knowledge and helping others to progress. Keep up the fantastic work Theodora, you’re an inspiration!”

The event ended on a high for Theodora when she participated in the Disneyland Parade, which processes throughout the theme park. Alongside fellow participants, she was then able to enjoy a fun day at the park – celebrating her hard work and dedication.
