Outstanding GCSE Results
Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 24th of August 2023
We’re delighted to report outstanding GCSE results, with 26 per cent of all grades a 9 and 51 per cent of all grades being 9/8. Ninety-nine per cent of students gained five or more GCSEs graded 9-4 and 80 per cent of all pupils achieved 9-7 in the core subjects of Maths and English.
The education secretary, Gillian Keegan, warned earlier in the summer that schools should prepare for lower results following a return to pre-pandemic grading. As with A-Levels, our rigorous approach to grading during the pandemic years has meant results are broadly consistent.
We’re proud of this year group, who committed themselves to their studies and supported each other brilliantly.
Over 60% of the cohort achieved seven or more grades 9-7 and 40% of the cohort achieved an outstanding nine or more grades 9-7. Five pupils achieved straight grade 9s and a further 17 pupils achieved all 9-8. The most common grade was a grade 9, with the average grade being higher than grade 7.
The majority of students will remain at Cranleigh to join the Sixth Form and continue their studies to A-Level. We look forward to welcoming them back in September.
