Reception were flight explorers when they visited the RAF Museum in Hendon.
The boys enjoyed a thoroughly engaging workshop entitled ‘Fantastic Flight’ in which they learnt about how flight has evolved from the first invention of an early biplane by The Wright Brothers, made of cloth and wood. They discovered how this first flight lasted only 12 seconds. The boys were shown the most recent aircraft in the shape of a jet called The Lightning, which can hover and land without the need of a run way. This jet can fly up to 1960 km/h.
The boys then explored the various flying machines on display in several hangers on the museum site. Lunch was very welcome as with all the walking, the boys had certainly earned a refreshment break. What a wonderful day had by all!
