CCF Royal Navy Section Trip

A fun day with the Royal Navy’s Cadet Sail Training Staff.

The CCF Royal Navy section conducted their Afloat Field Day at the weekend. The cadets were put through their paces aboard the 49’ Halberg Rassey yacht, skippered by the Royal Navy’s Cadet Sail Training Staff. They were tested on the ropework skills they had learnt at school and took turns helming in Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent. They enjoyed a relaxed lunch swinging at anchor just of the Isle of Wight before returning at a great pace in the increased winds of the afternoon.

  Maj Plewes, Director of Outdoor Education, said: “The trip was a great opportunity, the cadets loved getting out on the water. We will try to repeat the trip at least once a year to give the cadets the experience that they can then build on with more advanced water based courses that they can sign up to as individuals.”
