Eszter Gerezdi and Space Clottey, both former pupils of the Cumberland School in London, were awarded the Prince Albert Foundation scholarships to Wellington College in 2021 and today, both celebrated the fantastic outcomes in their A Levels Space achieved A Level results A*, A*, B for Maths, Computer Science and Economics and was awarded a fully-funded, four year unconditional scholarship to Emory College in Georgia Atlanta where he is reading Computer Science and Mathematics, with a minor in Film. He commenced his studies on 14 August. Eszter achieved A Level results A*, A, A for Politics, History, and Economics.

She will take up a place at London School of Economics and Political Science to read Law and Anthropology. Eszter comments on her results and time at Wellington College:

‘It is a truly life changing experience that cannot be matched. It has made me more confident and allowed me to make some of the greatest friends that I will always cherish.’

The Prince Albert Foundation, a fully-funded scholarship programme to the prestigious Berkshire school, for families who would not normally consider or be able to access independent education, not only offers outstanding academic support but also a breadth of extra-curricular opportunities, alongside additional pastoral support and access to further academic tuition.

Space achieved a Distinction in Grade 8 LAMDA, amongst many other things:

‘I got to dip my toes into practically every field I could be interested in, from making films with professional cameras, starting a podcast, taking part in public speaking competitions, organizing a new student society on Rationality, fencing, applying to go to uni in the US, learning dance, doing costume for Legally Blonde The Musical and racing in Canada in a skiing competition. I am far from being a good skier, but the school was very encouraging, getting me private lessons when I signed up for the sport. I got to try everything and the environment was always so supportive.’

Being a part of the programme gives all the scholars access to Welly Connect, Wellington College’s global professional and social network of 5500 pupils past and present and parents.

Eszter secured a work experience placement via this network.

‘The scholarship programme gave me access to amazing resources to help fulfil my ambitions. I got to expand my contacts and create professional relationships which led to work placements in legal practices.’

The College offers 10 -12 PAF scholarships per academic year and is on target to have a combined total of 40 PAF scholars by September 2025.If you meet the criteria and are interested in applying for the Prince Albert Foundation please visit www.wellingtoncollege.org.uk/admissions/bursaries/

Wellington College is a co-educational day and boarding independent school in the village of Crowthorne, Berkshire, England. Wellington is a registered charity and currently educates roughly 1,100 pupils, between the ages of 13 and 18, per annum.

It was built as a national monument to the first Duke of Wellington (1769–1852), in honour of whom the College is named. Queen Victoria laid the foundation stone in 1856 and inaugurated the School's public opening on 29 January 1859.It’s a school like no other; an environment where a fusion of originality, innovation and 160 years of tradition and history produces a unique educational experience.

What sets us apart though is our all-pervading culture of ambition and aspiration; an atmosphere which encourages every pupil, teacher and parent to believe that anything is possible.Wellington College’s foundation was steeped in purpose: to be a living memorial to the 1st Duke; to serve our nation’s heroes by educating their orphaned children; and to offer a different kind of education to other schools. Our updated purpose of pioneering education to serve and help shape a better world therefore resonates as strongly today as it would have done in 1859.
