Eltham College are delighted to announce that our Phonetic Name Pronunciation initiative ‘Every Name Matters’ has been shortlisted in the EDI category of the prestigious AMCIS awards. This is a remarkable accomplishment for our school and a testament to the dedication of our team, especially Mr Hammond, who worked tirelessly to develop this programme.
The initiative was launched in response to the findings of the Flair Impact Survey, and it underscores our commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion. Through the ‘Every Name Matters’ campaign, we have raised awareness about the significance of correctly pronouncing names and the impact it can have on building a more inclusive and respectful community.
The judges said: “An insightful initiative, with a well-executed launch campaign, that has embraced diversity, changed school procedures to be more inclusive, educated the school community, and made an ongoing positive impact to the lives of existing and new pupils and their families.”
We are proud to have shared this campaign internally and externally through various mediums such as news stories, graphics, and videos on our website and social media platforms. This nomination is a recognition of our efforts towards fostering an environment of inclusivity, and we will continue to strive for excellence in this regard.
