Tió de Nadal, the Catalan Poop Log!Continuing the festivities, Pre-Prep have been learning all about the tradition of the Tió de Nadal, the Catalan ‘pooping’ log, in Spanish lessons this week.
The Tió de Nadal is also known simply as Tió or Tronca ("Log"), is a character in Catalan mythology relating to a Christmas tradition widespread in Catalonia.
This Catalan holiday tradition involves a log that is fed scraps of food for several weeks leading up to Christmas and then on Christmas Eve the log will ‘poop’ small presents!
Mrs Flux brought in her own Tió to demonstrate and the children each made a miniature version to take home!
Hopefully their new Tió will remember to reward them with a present on Christmas Eve…!
