Yet more National Recognition for Pipers Students

Back in August 2022, the School discovered it had, for the second year in a row, qualified as finalists for the National Competition of Food, Farming and the Natural Environment. Having narrowly lost out in 2021, when we finished as runner-up, our students were determined to go one better this year. The students embarked on a trip to the Vale of Clwyd during the October half-term, during which time they spent a fascinating weekend linking farming to the environment. An eye-opening few days, during which time they learned to milk farm animals, weigh livestock and drive tractors, they also gained an insight into agronomy, agroforestry, the role farmers play in ensuring they have healthy soil for dairy farming and crop production, and how sustainable farming is achieved.
We are delighted to be able to report that Pipers students were crowned winners of this national competition - just reward for the dedication they have shown in support of LEAF's goal of developing more sustainable food and farming.
