Published on isbi School News dated Wednesday 6th of July 2022

Lower Sixth Form linguist Becky has won the A level Spanish category of the Independent Schools' Modern Languages Association (ISMLA) Original Writing Competition 2022. The annual creative writing competition is open to GCSE and A Level students studying French, German, Spanish, Italian and Chinese at independent schools, and their state school partners, across the UK.

ISMLA judges were delighted with the high number of entries received this year, commending entrants' language skills and creativity, as well the excellent standard of language teaching nationwide.

Mrs Marta Viruete Navarro, Head of Spanish and Modern Foreign Languages at Kimbolton, said: “Becky's winning essay was a dialogue, incorporating spoken expressions, on why film director Almodóvar is especially admired outside of Spain. The prize is testament to Becky's wonderful linguistic talent and her passion for all things Hispanic.”
