The Time Is Now

Published by St Gabriel's on Wednesday 3rd of November 2021

On Wednesday, 3 February, St Gabriel’s announced it will extend its co-educational offering to the Senior School, welcoming boys, alongside girls, into Year 7 from September 2022 . The move to a fully co-educational Senior School will be incremental with a second entry point of Year 9 and Year 12 (Sixth Form) being established in September 2024. By 2026, St Gabriel’s will be an all-through co-educational school, from Nursery to Sixth Form.

"St Gabriel's stands out as being an exceptional school in the area. In becoming an all-through co-educational school, we will enable more children to access our excellent educational offering. In addition to the appeal of the one school drop-off and pick-up, we recognise the benefits of school life mirroring the world beyond education, where men and women compete as equals. This change will only serve to enrich the education that all our young people receive; the ethos and values that have always underpinned St Gabriel’s will remain as steadfast and true as they have for the last 90 years.”

In the last decade, St Gabriel’s successfully established Sandleford Nursery and extended its co-educational offering in the Junior School to Year 6. As our first cohort of Sandleford boys move through the Junior School, the time is now right to offer all our Junior School children a seamless transition to their senior school education.
