A handful of medals

Following on from their earlier success at the regional IAPS girls' hockey tournament, three of Gresham's girls' hockey teams competed at the IAPS National Finals in November. With a Gresham's team reaching the final in every age group, this might have seemed success enough; yet the girls strove for one better, coming away with a full house of medals!

The U12 finals were played at Queenswood School in Hertsfordshire, and despite the high calibre of competition from the likes of Millfield School, the Gresham's girls sailed through the group rounds, meeting Ashfold in the final. After a sensational performance, Gresham's took the gold to become National Prep School Champions with an impressive 4-0 victory!

The U11s and U13s also came away from the finals with a medal. Finishing third and fourth in their groups, the girls went into the Plate competition; this is where the third and fourth teams from each group battle it out for final rankings. Although the U13s lost the semi-final of the Plate, they won the third place play off against Perrott Hill 2-1, earning them a medal and a well-deserved pat on the back from Gresham's coaching staff. The U11 girls emulated this success in the tournament played at Bishop Stortford, finishing 3rd in the plate competition and gaining a medal.
