New Head of Bedales Prep School announced

Colin Baty has been announced as the new Head of Bedales Prep School, Dunhurst (Steep, Hampshire) from September 2017. He will succeed Jane Grubb who has decided to stand down to pursue a new business venture. Colin taught at Dunhurst between 1999 and 2005 and his wife Debbie taught at Bedales Pre-prep, Dunannie, from 1996 to 2005 and grew up in Steep. They were also both house parents at the prep school. Colin grew up in New Zealand and attended Waikato University. He holds a Bachelor of Education degree and a National Qualification in Headship from the National College of School Leadership. After his time at Dunhurst, he became Deputy Head at Moreton Hall Prep School in Suffolk, before moving to Great Walstead Prep School, Hayward’s Heath, in 2009. Initially appointed as Deputy Head, he became Headmaster there in September 2010. Colin has previously been a Head of Department of Geography, PSHE, History, Maths and Sport and his interests range from Drama through to mindfulness. Keith Budge, Headmaster, Bedales Schools said: “I know Colin, Debbie and family will be sorely missed by Great Walstead School and we are very much looking forward to welcoming them back to Steep. Colin has an impressive track record and we will no doubt benefit from his impressive drive, vision and innate understanding of the Bedales difference”.
