Mesmerising Dance Show!

Published on isbi School News dated Friday 8th of April 2016

Close to two hundred performers made this year’s Dance Show the best ever! Ruth Kestenbaum, who choreographed the performance, produced a wonderful show which mesmerised the audiences on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th March. Pre-Prep 3 started the programme with ‘Hocus Pocus’, a modern dance routine with witches and wizards, broomsticks and glow-in-the-dark wands. Next up were Form Three with ‘Funny Bones’, a Hip Hop skeleton dance, followed by ‘Fang-tastic’, a commercial dance routine about vampires performed by Upper Fourth pupils. The Lower Fifth presented ‘Fairy Dust’, a commercial and Jazz piece about fairies combined with ballet and Lower and Upper Preps combined for ‘Marvel-icious’, a modern dance routine about superheroes and super villains. Just before the interval Forms 1 and 2 performed ‘Fly Me to the Moon’, a dance routine encompassing modern jazz and hip hop involving astronauts and aliens. Senior students from Upper Fifth and Sixth Form started proceedings after the interval with ‘The Haunted’ a contemporary dance about ghosts and, continuing that theme, the youngest performers from Pre-Prep 2 presented ‘Ghostbustin', a modern dance piece involving ghostbusters. Lower Fourth performed ‘Celestial Combat’, a commercial pop routine combined with modern jazz and they were followed by the Lower and Upper Fifth with ‘Arcade Antics’, modern jazz, martial arts and hip hop combined in this dance about video games. A fantastic programme was closed with a performance of ‘Inter-Galactica’, a hip hop dance featuring Stormtroopers, Darth Vade, Luke Skywalker and Yoda.
