The Arts and Sciences: Queen Margaret’s A Level Results Success

The girls at Queen Margaret’s, York are celebrating the success of a truly all round education with excellent results in both arts and science subjects. We congratulate all the girls. Here are a few highlights: Maths and Drama! All Round Success for Isabella Queen Margaret’s girl, Isabella Adams from York, has aimed high and exceeded expectations in both the arts and sciences. After a busy final year at Queen Margaret’s, where she took on the responsibility of Drama Prefect and the leading role in the senior theatre production, she achieved A* in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics alongside an A* in Theatre Studies and an A in Latin. A fantastic all round achievement. Isabella will be taking her place at Leeds University to study Maths. 100% in Maths Papers for Two Queen Margaret’s Girls Congratulations to Fiona Zhou and Fennel Tse from Queen Margaret’s, York who achieved 100% in their A Level Maths papers. With 4 A*s both girls have worked extremely hard and are now looking forward to university. Fiona will take her place at Imperial College, London to study Actuarial Accounting. Fennel has secured her place at Churchill College, Cambridge to study Engineering. Top Engineering University Courses for Two Queen Margaret’s Girls Following fantastic results Charlotte Morphet and Fennel Tse from Queen Margaret’s girls’ school, York, have secured places on two of the top Engineering courses in the country. Charlotte, with 2 A*s and 2 As, will take her place at Imperial College, London and Fennel, with 4 A*s, will be studying at Churchill College, Cambridge. The girls are excited to be pursuing a career in Engineering, a field that has sometimes been seen as male dominated, proving that an all girls’ education breaks down gender stereotypes and empowers girls to try everything that life has to offer. Oxbridge Success in the Arts and Sciences Congratulations to Charlotte Cohen and Fennel Tse who have secured places at Oxford and Cambridge. Amid mounting competition for top university places and the toughening up of entry requirements, it is a superb achievement to receive an Oxbridge place. After smoothly navigating an extremely challenging admissions process Charlotte has secured a place to study History at University College, Oxford and Fennel is going to study Engineering at Churchill College, Cambridge. Queen Margaret’s School is celebrating excellent A Level results, reporting over 54% of entries achieving the highly sought after A* - A grade. 80% of the entries gained A* - B grade. This year, 28% of all girls taking A Level exams achieved three or more A* - A grades. Congratulations must also go to other equally talented UVI girls at Queen Margaret’s School who have secured places at top universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL, Durham, Bristol, The Royal Drawing School (London), Exeter, Liverpool and other top Russell Group Universities on a diverse range of courses including: Engineering, Art Foundation, Maths, History, Actuarial Accounting, Media and Communications, Music Management, Law and Business Management. Queen Margaret’s Head, Jessica Miles is delighted: “We are extremely proud of all our UVI girls. Through longstanding dedication to their academic subjects and an enthusiasm for independent thought the girls have out-performed what was predicted across the spectrum.
