Godolphin School commemorated Remembrance Day with services at the senior and prep schools, as well as their own Commemoration Service held in Westminster Abbey on November 8.During the senior Act of Remembrance, the names of five 'Old Godolphins' who lost their lives in service were read out and a cross planted for each of them:
Frances Britta
Rosemary Gidley-Kitchin
Patricia Trench
Joan Cole-Hamilton
Joan Lapage
At the end of the prep service, the girls braved the weather and planted their Remembrance crosses in the gardens (and flower pots) around the school.
The Upper Sixth girls, staff and members of the OGA, commemorated the founder of the school, Elizabeth Godolphin, who is buried in Westminster Abbey. The service, held in the King Henry VII chapel, while the rest of the Abbey is closed to the public, is an annual privilege and a great honour.
