A team of three Caterham School students have won a place in the National Final of the British Schools Karting Championship (BSKC). They will compete against the best 32 school and college teams in the country at Whilton Mill on 19 July. They are hoping to repeat the success of 2012 when a Caterham School team won the national title.Sixth Form students Michael Gibbins, Luca Ingrassia, and Raphael Hage earned their place in the National Final by coming 3rd in the South East Regional Final which was held at Buckmore Park on 4 May.
Mrs Charlotte Bell, who runs the Caterham School Karting Team, said: 'Once again the standard of competition has been very high so I was delighted for the team that they managed to achieve a place in the national finals, coming 3rd out of 25 schools in the South East Region Finals. The boys all drove very well and demonstrated excellent pace particularly at the start of their races, frequently moving up the pack in the first couple of corners. They then displayed considerable maturity as they managed to hold off their rivals to finish with a consistently strong set of results.'
