Ready Steady Cook.....
Published on isbi School News dated Friday 31st of January 2014
The afternoon of Sunday 26 January saw the annual Ready, Steady, Cook battle between the Third Form (Year 9) pupils from the 14 senior houses of Oundle School. At 2pm, representatives from each house collected their ingredients (two eggs, rice, oats, spring onions, carrots, a lemon and creamed coconut) and raced back to their house kitchens to whisk up two courses under the supervision of Matrons, Housemasters and Housemistresses and other House staff.
At 3pm, they all returned to serve their food to the judges. Head of Third Form, Mr Eadon, and Ashley, one of the School chefs, then had the unenviable task of judging the quality and presentation of food, as well as how innovative the competitors had been with the ingredients provided.
Twenty-eight courses later (and with the night-time break to ensure no food contamination!), the boys from Bramston were announced as winners, gaining twenty points towards the inter-house Third Form Challenge Cup.
School Chef Ashley, impressed with a curry dish served up by Laxton House, even asked for the recipe a high commendation indeed! The inter-house competition hots up further next month with Badminton and Basketball contests.
