Oundle School pupil, Charlotte O'Dea (17) from Rothwell in Northampton was runner-up in a Student Design Competition run by The Design Museum for pupils aged 14-19.Charlotte entered the architecture category with a brief to design a pavilion to provide space for 60 people to enjoy an outdoor event or celebration whatever the weather! The concept needed to be resistant to adverse weather conditions and easily collapsible for transportation and storage. Entrants had to submit visual research with initial ideas and development and then the final concept proposal.
Charlotte commented, 'I am really interested in architecture and design and I would love to study it at University. To my delight my design was shortlisted which meant I was invited to the Design Museum in London for the award ceremony. At the ceremony, I discovered that not only was I one of five shortlisted in my age-group out of over 350 but I was a runner-up in the architecture category. This was a great sense of achievement.'
Charlotte, who is currently in the Lower Sixth (Year 12), is studying for A levels in Maths and Design and Technology (DT) and Pre-U in History and has just completed her Art AS. She hopes to study architecture and design at university.
