Three Bishop's Stortford College Pupils Through To National Athletics Finals

Bishop's Stortford College had a great day at the East Area Prep Schools' Athletics Championships, with three athletes qualifying on the day for the national finals and a total of fifteen top ten places achieved.Jake Morris won the U13 Hurdles in 12.6secs, whilst Charlotte Dadey came second in the U14 100m with a time of 13.9secs and William Hodge achieved 4.84m in the U14 Long Jump to finish in second place as well. All three will now represent the East at the National Finals in Birmingham on 2nd July.
In addition, Amelia Harvey has since heard that she has been called up to represent the East Area as well, after one of the athletes who qualified on the day had to withdraw. Amelia came third in the U14 200m in 29.3s.
In the field events of the regional competition, six more top ten places were achieved:
Amy Craft U13 High Jump 4th 1.30m
Charlotte Dadey U14 High Jump 5th 1.35m
Catherine Webb U13 Javelin 5th 17.19m
Jo Radley U12 High Jump 6th 1.25m
Cameron Fearon U14 Shot 6th 9.83m
Tom Constantino U12 Long Jump 8th 4.02m
On the track, several athletes reached the finals in their events with the following results:
Ellie Mitchell U13 800m 4th 2.31.9secs
Aaron Scilly U14 200m 5th 26.8secs
Cameron Fearon U14 400m 5th 63.7secs
Katie Champion U14 800m 5th 2.40.5secs
Max Potts U12 1500m 8th 5.38.2secs
'All the athletes performed well and competed with such determination for the College,' said Director of Sport, Lyndsay Shepherd, 'They can be very proud of their achievements.'
There were 52 schools competing at the regional event, which took place on Thursday 6th June at Bedford International Stadium.
