Word From The Head
Simon Fisher
Small is beautiful! The values of the family run through Dover College. Our class sizes allow us to nurture confidence, encourage inquisitiveness and celebrate individual success.
We are academically ambitious. We take the time to really get to know each child so that the right balance of challenge and support is in place based on their needs. This is a school which recognises that success is as unique as the individual and celebrates achievement where it represents the personal best for the child. You can read more here about how that approach is paying off in our public examination results.
We like to think differently. Our distinctive curriculum, connecting Early Years right through to Sixth Form, focusses not only on achieving excellent results but also developing inquisitive and creative minds ready for the challenges ahead. We are a member of the Round Square organisation, a group of 150 worldwide schools, and share their commitment to an all-round education. We prize their core values of internationalism, democracy, care for the environment, adventure, leadership and service. We encourage all pupils to participate in sport, music and drama, recognising the way these areas promote leadership, teamwork and self-belief.
We are international and local. We welcome pupils from across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, encouraging everyone to be inclusive, unprejudiced, cosmopolitan and outward looking.
We prepare pupils for life after Dover College, and have a strong Alumni and Old Dovorian network. Our university and careers advice is exceptional and we have close links with higher education establishments around the world.
In 2019 we were shortlisted for the TES Awards for our Senior Leadership Team, our Curriculum, our Marketing and as Boarding School of the Year. We’re also very proud of our Good Schools Guide review.
Dover College turned 150 in 2022! This important anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate a century and a half of successful education, during which time nearly five and a half thousand pupils have been educated at the College, as well as reflect on how we will continue to develop into the future.
Please do come and visit! We are two minutes by road from Dover port, an hour by train from London, and just over an hour and a half by road from Gatwick, Stansted and Heathrow airports. My team and I can promise you a very warm welcome.
