Word From The Head
From Lucy Meyer, Headteacher
The Lloyd Williamson School, founded in 1998 by Lucy Meyer, its owner and Co-Principal, is a small co-educational village style school in West London. It caters for children from 6 months to 13 years and is open fifty weeks of the year, providing breakfast, afternoon clubs and holiday schemes for all ages. Lucy is currently Co-Principal with Aaron Williams.
Our ethos is to treat each child as a unique individual and this is made possible by small classes (maximum 16). The school provides teaching of a high standard and all the children’s interests and talents are actively encouraged. The range of subjects extends beyond the National Curriculum to include Spanish, Italian, Latin, Logic & Reasoning, Art History and Music Appreciation. The Arts are an important part of every child’s development and the school prides itself on the standards attained. Individual tuition is available on most instruments. Games, P.E. and Swimming take place on a weekly basis and are taught by a specialist teacher. Each term a wide range of interesting and exciting trips and workshops are organised to support and develop work carried out in the classroom.
Our pastoral care of the children is something all staff are involved in – it makes us the happy and caring community we are. We encourage friendly, supportive relationships between staff and children and communicate with parents through reports and regular parent/teacher social events. The form teachers are happy to discuss individual children at any time.
We stress the importance of good manners and that everyone should be respected and treated with courtesy, whether they are children, parents, carers, visitors or staff. We use positive reinforcement at the school with focus on the praising of good behaviour. Children respond well to praise and follow the example of their peers.
We provide a balanced and varied menu to keep the children happy and healthy, with fresh fruit and water readily available throughout the day.
‘I want to create a school where every child feels valued and is given the encouragement to become the best that they can be and to prepare them academically, socially and emotionally for secondary school and beyond. This school has a safe but challenging and inspiring environment, which aims to instil both a passion for life and for learning within each child. Praise and celebrate their success – we do!’
