Millfield School is a remarkable place. From its foundation in 1935, with six princes brought from India, Millfield is today one of the leading UK independent schools for boys and girls, aged 2-18 years. The community spans from Pre-Prep and Prep, to Senior and Sixth Form, and Millfield Enterprises offering English language holiday courses and sports activity courses and residentials outside of term time.

Word From The Head

Head Photo

From Gavin Horgan, Head

Millfield is distinctively different. From its foundation in 1935 through to the present day the school has inspired generations of students to immerse themselves in The Millfield Way to discover their personal brilliance. Millfield has the resource and attitude to bring together key staff to provide an education and experience that honours the individual child at the centre. This doesn't happen in other schools. Academic study, cultural and sporting endeavours set every student on the path to success, going into the world with confidence and maturity to write their own futures, succeeding in all walks of life and supporting those around them.

Sitting at the forefront of our ethos is our belief in the goodness of young people, the importance of curiosity, caring attitudes and a shared mindset connecting students, teachers, coaches and parents within the school community; secure in the challenges that Millfield provides:

- A rich learning community where being different and discovering individual brilliance is the norm
- Richness of relationships and recognition of the power of pupil voice to become actively involved in creating connectedness, memories and friendships that can last a lifetime
- Respect for the quiet confidence of those less forthright yet committed to achieve
- Outstanding facilities and small class sizes enable a culture where each student is supported and challenged by a community of teachers, coaches and house staff
- Sophisticated use of digital technology for learning where students benefit from its use, but equally understand their responsibilities

The school's vision is to be the leading global arena for the development of children, with 1320 students aged 13-18, of whom 75 percent are full boarders. Although essentially a rural British school, 20 per cent of Millfield students are international and come from over 70 countries. Set in over 100 acres of grounds, Millfield's size brings great opportunity and the facilities are unmatched in the UK: an Olympic-sized swimming pool, golf courses and equestrian centre; concert hall, theatre, art gallery, music centre, hi-tech chemistry block and outstanding teaching facilities; and the boarding accommodation is amongst the very best in the country.

    The Good Schools Guide

Outside the classroom, there’s everything a young person could possibly want to do – and then some more

    Stefan Carlin - Parent

The Millfield support is beyond anything we have experienced elsewhere and the professionalism and level of all staff is exceptional. Millfield for us as parents has been a great experience and we wholeheartedly recommend the school.
