Word From The Head

From Mike Stanley, Headmaster

Choosing a school for your child is such a big decision that you can’t make it simply by looking at a website; it is like buying a house, you need to visit and get a ‘feel’ for the place. Those that do visit The Lyceum remark on the warmth and energy that they pick up and the sense that everyone is welcome.

The very special ambience of the school is created by the energetic and dedicated team who all enjoy working together. From the warm greeting that you will get from the office team to the smiles of the children and the teachers, you are sure to have a positive experience when you come. Everyone in the school employs mindfulness techniques as we are aware that emotions are contagious, especially negative ones. Stressed and unhappy teachers do not tend to teach well but those who are relaxed and inspired do!

At The Lyceum, we believe that creativity and academic success go hand-in-hand and it is because of the broad and rich curriculum, not despite it, that our children do so well. Our academic results are outstanding, and our pupils are much sought after by the top senior schools in London and beyond. As one of our parents said recently, ‘The Lyceum really punches above its weight in terms of its senior school offers’. This is because our children have well-developed social skills, a quiet inner confidence, and a passion for both academic subjects and the arts. We aim not just to have prepared our pupils for their exams, but to have prepared them to lead a rich and meaningful life too.

We are a school for busy professional parents and, having started my career as a working mother with two young daughters, I fully understand the stresses that you might be under. Our school day includes a Breakfast Club for those who require it and our extensive range of After School Clubs finish at 5.45pm. We have Holiday Clubs that take place at Christmas, Easter and in the Summer, allowing you the freedom to continue to work.

We are located within walking distance of Shoreditch High Street, Liverpool Street, Old Street and Moorgate train stations and we would love to show you around our extraordinary building. You can then meet our confident, happy children and see our inspirational team in action.

We look forward to seeing you.

    School Reviews

The Lyceum is a nurturing school where the kids really do get a lot of personalized attention to become kind, confident, happy people.

Music at The Lyceum is simply superb, and the quality of the performances is impressive, particularly when considering the size of the school.

The building is beautiful, airy and light, with an outdoor playground – something of a rarity in central London.

This is a fabulous school in all sorts of ways, not least the way its staff treats the children with real care, kindness and respect.

An inclusive very happy environment is created at the school.
